Anniversary with Lawn Fawn and Concord & 9th

Handmade Cards
Love Anniversary (Lawn Fawn, Concord & 9th)

This card was a challenge for me as I don’t have a lot of anniversary related stamps. In fact, the only stamp I had that mentioned anniversary was the Lawn Fawn Happy Everything stamp set, but I couldn’t figure out a way to incorporate it after inking such a pretty background! I made this colourful card for my parents who have been married for 35 years – congrats to you! The card was also inspired a little by this card from Kristina Werner with her beautiful pastel inking as I’ve been looking for other ideas on how to use this background stamp.

Love Anniversary (Lawn Fawn, Concord & 9th)

I started out on a piece of Tim Holtz watercolour cardstock and blended several colours of Distress Inks in rainbow colours (Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral, Barn Door, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, Faded Jeans and Mermaid Lagoon).

After heat setting, I then stamped the Barnyard Background by Concord & 9th in Versamark Ink and clear heat embossed. I then went over again with the inks, this time shifting the colour bands down slightly so the darker ink would highlight the lighter ink under the embossing powder. I buffed off the ink that had pooled over the embossing powder to get a really nice effect, I think! I will have to experiment with different colours with this technique.

I then stamped a load of the Fab Flowers from the Fawn Fawn set onto some black cardstock and white heat embossed. After die cutting with the cordinating dies, I arranged them on the bottom of the card and adhered with some Multi Medium Matte. This took a little bit of effort and some extra stamp blocks to press them down onto the embossed background.

I really struggled with the sentiment but finally decided to cut the Scripty Love from both black and white cardstock, adhering them slightly offset to give a shadowed look and layering over a simple black cardstock banner.

I adhered the card to an A2 white card base and finished off with some black and white sequins and some Glossy Accents on the love sentiment.
